Tessa came to us from Tommy Higgins of Blessed Mastiffs in 2005. He called and said she wouldn't get pregnant, and he would "Hate to take her to the pound" if we didn't get her that day. We found her in his backyard in a small, muddy pen with another Mastiff. She was extremely thin and timid, and had worms and ear infections. Tessa gained over 30 lbs and was adopted by a loving, patient family who adores her. In 2007, Higgins sued me for slander, defamation of character, loss of income and mental distress for placing the above info about Tessa on my website. He stated that since 2005 (when Tessa's info was placed on my Rescue page) no reputable breeders would sell him a puppy, so he couldn't buy quality dogs or sell his puppies for as much as he wanted to. I am glad to say that our case finally went to court today, and he LOST, with the jury overwhelmingly siding with me. I am glad for myself and for poor Tessa, as she won today too. 4-16-09 |
